8. Wakanda's On The Map
Amongst the upcoming films Marvel announced are to debut over the next few years is Black Panther, the first black superhero in the MCU to get his own film. The king of a fictional African nation who's an Avenger off-and-on in the comics, there were rumours that the character due to be played by stage actor Chadwick Boseman was to make his first appearance at some point in Age Of Ultron. As it happens that...didn't happen. There was a brief glimpse of a woman in the trailers for the second Avengers film that were suggested might be some relation to the Panther...but she was cut out of the finished film. But the land of T'Challa finally got an introduction to the MCU in this film, expanding the world view outside of New York. Whilst Black Panther himself didn't appear his country, Wakanda, was introduced via Bruce Banner spectacularly mispronouncing its name. It came along with Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klau, destined to become Panther villain Klaw; here he was just an arms dealer with a nasty branding and a now-missing arm. Simply confirming that the country exists means the map is a lot bigger than the mostly US-centred MCU so far.
