Avengers Theory: How Kate Bishop Appears In Endgame

Is it time for a new Hawkeye?

The trailer for Avengers: Endgame came with many unexpected moments, the most surprising of which had to be the reveal of Clint Barton training a young girl who many suspected to be Kate Bishop. In the comics, Kate goes on to take Barton's alias of Hawkeye after he is presumed dead.

While these rumours were somewhat quashed with the realisation that this girl is perhaps more likely to be an older Lila Barton - Clint's daughter - the hope for Bishop to feature in the MCU is not yet dead. Between suspicions that Lila takes on the role of Bishop, to leaks that Katherine Langford has signed on to play an 'undisclosed role' in Endgame (strongly suspected to be none other than Bishop herself), there are a series of ways in which the character could be unveiled in the fourth Avengers film.

Initial speculation has been bolstered further by reports that a Hawkeye television series is in development for Disney+, which supposedly focuses around Barton passing the Hawkeye torch to Bishop over the run of the series. With the Marvel Disney+ series announced thus far all featuring characters in the MCU, Bishop's chances of appearing only skyrocket further.

Regardless of through what methods, the prospect of Kate Bishop appearing in Endgame raises a series of questions, the most crucial of which being what role Bishop will play in the events of the film itself. While there's a chance that a big screen adaption will totally change the origins of the younger Hawkeye, it would still be possible for Kate's original beginnings to be loosely adapted in Endgame.

With Bishop being introduced slightly later in the film universe than her comic canon counterpart - wherein she is already an established character by Civil War - the potential of her training to be involved in the plot to finally take down Thanos seems the most logical.
