Babel - Critics Reviews

10m10.jpgBabel is the follow up to director Alejandro González Iñárritu's extremley impressive 21 Grams and stars Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett and Gael Garcia Bernal in what looks to be a weighty political and cultural drama. The movie has been a huge hit at film festivals around the world, with Iñárritu picking up the best director award at Cannes and just missing out on winning best picture. Some excerpts from critics reviews around the web... "This is not a fear-mongering movie, but it is unpredictable and shocking, with compassion hanging on for dear life." -Ray Bennett - Hollywood Reporter "Another powerful and unforgettable emotional experience, only slightly marred by its unconventional storytelling technique". - Edward Douglas - Comingsoon.net "The year's richest, most complex and ultimately most heartbreaking film". - Peter Travers - Rolling Stone "Babel is depressing, long, boring, and if it's trying to say something important I wasn'table to hear it". - Joshua Tyler - Cinema Blend "Babel is a brilliant, profound and devastating film that explores the dangers and consequences of what can happen when words fail, communication ceases and all you€™ve got left are feelings. Babel is a masterpiece". - Rex Reed - New York Observer Babel currently scores a 74% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 53 reviews. Most of the criticisms of the movie stem from the contrived storytelling of Iñárritu, but I thought it worked brillaintly for 21 Grams and most comment that if you liked that movie then you will probably like Babel too. The movie will be released in the U.K. on 5th January next year. source - rotten tomatoes
