BAFTAs 2019: 6 Ups & 8 Downs
4. Spike Lee FINALLY Wins A BAFTA
Despite having five Oscar nominations to his name, it's absolutely baffling that Spike Lee hadn't received a single BAFTA nomination until this year, when he received three for his splendid work on BlacKkKlansman.
And better still, Lee ended up winning the Best Adapted Screenplay BAFTA, landing him his first ever competitive award at the Golden Globes, Oscars or BAFTAs.
With a career spanning over 35 years and jam-packed with incisive classics, it's about damn time. And it's looking increasingly likely he'll also knock off an Oscar win in a few short weeks.
