Batman: 7 Coolest Features Of The Batsuit

3. Shock Absorbers/Safety Features

Knightfall Batman has accumulated a lot of injuries over the years, from numerous bullet wounds, to knife scars, stab wounds and broken bones aplenty. His more recent Batsuits have evolved to incorporate a neck brace (Dark Victory) and, following his broken back at the hands of Bane in Knightfall, a back brace as well (Batman & Son). The boots and gauntlets will also insulate Batman in case he is electrocuted (Leaves of Grass, Batman Incorporated), which happens more often than you might think. In addition, the Bat-logo on The Dark Knight€™s chest is heavily shielded (The Dark Knight Returns, Batman Reborn) and is designed to draw fire away from Batman€™s face and head. It can also release an electrical charge to an assailant if Batman is rendered unconscious (Hush). The cowl is armour plated, but doesn€™t provide as much protection as is perhaps necessary, given that Bats is frequently banged on the head, or grazed by a stray bullet and, as a result, knocked thoroughly senseless. However, the helmet will withstand the jaws of a puma (Knightfall) a dose of highly corrosive acid (Death of the Family) and, if tampered with, can release a concussive blast of gas to disable the would-be attacker (Hush). The suit itself is also thickly-layered enough to slow a bullet and provide some protection from fire, blades and hard impacts. Really, why are you picking a fight with this guy?

I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction. I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long! If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it). I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work. Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that! Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?) Latcho Drom, - CQ
