7. Lee Meriwether - Batman: The Movie
Lee Meriwether starred alongside Adam West in Batman: The Movie, being instructed to portray Catwoman the same way as Julie Newmar did in the Batman TV series.
Meriwether never had the chance to make the character her own and was heavily compared to the portrayal that came before her. Although her performance as Selina is solid, fans were used to Newmar’s popular portrayal throughout the Batman series and didn’t give Meriwether the chance to shine as the famed cat-burger.
It didn’t help that after Batman: The Movie, Eartha Kitt was cast to play Catwoman in the show’s third season, giving another solid and popular performance. As such, some forgot about Meriwether's Catwoman altogether.
Meriwether nailed Selina’s class and sexiness using her seductive voice as an advantage to bring the character to life on screen. She was able to create an intriguing relationship between the bat and the cat, making it a shame that many forget about her portrayal in the film. If Lee Meriwether was able to make the character her own, she could’ve easily been one of the best portrayals of Selina we've seen.
