Batman: Every Live-Action Gotham City Ranked Worst To Best

2. Gotham

Batman Forever Gotham City
Fox

Given its very title and premise, no movie or TV show has spent as much time in Batman's home city as FOX's Gotham.

For a cumulative 100 episodes across five seasons, audiences got to see the murky, seedy corners of Gotham City, its inhabitants, its growing number of insane rogues, the corruption laced throughout the GCPD, and of course the slow ascension of a certain young Dark Knight.

While there were obvious budget restrictions in place due to being a TV production, Gotham's eponymous locale was absolutely a character in and off itself. Across that centenary of episodes, this Bruno Heller-created series highlighted the many, many pitfalls of Gotham City and delicately - or not so delicately, at times - showed the debilitating, life-altering path this place can put its citizens on.

One could argue that Gotham's, err, Gotham has somewhat of an advantage over the other iterations of this city, but the show completely made the most of its home location. Never before or since has Gotham City felt like such a drain, such an all-powerful force trying to desperately drag its people down to its own murky level.

Marv of Sin City fame once quipped, "Walk down the right back alley of Sin City, and you can find anything". Change out Sin City for Gotham City and you get the idea.
