Batman: Gotham By Gaslight Review - 5 Ups & 5 Downs
2. Frederik Wiedmann's Terrific Musical Score
In terms of the film's pure style, nothing is as successful as Frederik Wiedmann's musical score, which does a fantastic job melding the more conventional Danny Efman-esque operatic stylings with a more distinctly Victorian, twangy sound.
The result is a score that actually stands out from the glut of generic Batman music out there, even if you might be left wishing all that talent and effort was ultimately put to use in a better film.
Still, Wiedmann's great work undeniably helps prop up the oft-lacking visuals, and shows a composer actually trying to do something different with the typical formula.
