Batman & Harley Quinn Review: 3 Ups & 8 Downs

5. The Plot Is A Dull Afterthought

Again like many other DC animations, the plot here isn't at all interesting, barely revolving around Poison Ivy and Floronic Man as they attempt to return Earth to a "state of nature" with a magical concoction which could very well end up destroying it. Yup.

It's a narrative both boring and offputtingly on-the-nose, with Ivy and her pal spending most of their scenes hand-wringing about humanity's environmental abuses and very little else.

It doesn't help that neither characters feel particularly well developed here, and their quest to annihilate everyone on Earth feels like it was launched on a whim. The movie isn't about them, of course, but even so, it's reasonable to expect a little more effort than the slapdash, piecemeal plot and characterisation that made the final cut.
