3. More Batgirl
And speaking of those returning characters, Batman Triumphant will offer us further chance to see Alicia Silverstone's Batgirl. She was painfully underused in Batman & Robin, and never had the opportunity to show off her acting credentials, which she has more than proved in successes like Clueless, The Crush and the terribly underrated Excess Baggage. Hopefully Triumphant would be able to flesh out her character a little more, and the dynamic between herself, Robin and Batman, as it will be nice to have a bit of feminine balance to the explosive machismo we've seen in Schumacher's last two films. In both of those films, women were dealt with in rather reductive terms as temptresses and sexual objects (hence that wonderful close-up of Silverstone's leather-clad backside,) and if there's one over-riding lesson all future Batman film need to take from Schumacher's time at the helm, it's to offer some gender balance. Otherwise you just end up with disposable female characters who too obviously represent narrative tools rather than real, fleshed-out character creations...
