Batman V Superman: 8 Major Reveals About The Dark Knight From The New Images

5. Bruce Wayne's Origin Story

By now, even someone who has never picked up a comic book in their life should know Batman's origin story. Why Zack Snyder is deciding to revisit that here is hard to say, though he's made some pretty surprising creative decisions in putting his own spin on the familiar tale. Once again, Thomas and Martha are killed by a mugger while coming back from seeing a movie, but, like Gotham, the killer's identity is never revealed. That removes Joe Chill from Batman's origin story then, and the book makes it clear that it's remained one of the city's biggest mysteries for decades, so Bruce has clearly never been able to track the shooter down. With Snyder taking so many cues from The Dark Knight Returns, you might think he would also turn to Frank Miller's Year One for inspiration, but he's skipping the whole "I shall become a bat" thing to follow in Christopher Nolan's footsteps. Just like Batman Begins, this Bruce falls down a well on the grounds of Wayne Manor, only to discover the Batcave after being swarmed by hundred of bats. Feels like deja vu, right?
