Batman V Superman: Is Lex Luthor Secretly Kryptonian?

5. There's A Pre-Exisiting Way To Make It Work

OK, so Lex Luthor being Kryptonian certainly isn't a new idea over at Warner Bros., but it's still something rather radical and needs to be correctly handled. And while we'll get to how it could work in the plot of Batman V Superman itself, first let's see its applicability to what we know of the universe so far. Now Man Of Steel wasn't really a film about Marvel-style seeding, with Superman easter eggs very much in the background. The most prominent were a couple of references to Batman and several appearances of LexCorp property (although I'm sure that slight Booster Gold wink will become essential in five or so years). Both of these elements are quite obviously getting cashed in in Batman V Superman, which is now being viewed as the real start of the DC Extended Universe However, those aren't the only open-ended teases, and this one, if anything, makes a Wayne satellite look subtle; on the Fortress of Solitude there was an opened, empty hibernation pod, leaving the door very much open for another Kryptonian to be on Earth. In a tie-in comic that was how Supergirl got to Earth, although it's fair to say very few people would take that as canon (who actually cares about those prequel comics?) and could easily be ret-conned to be Lex Luthor's pod. There's some timeline fudging needed here, but it's conceivable another son of Krypton was on the ship, escaped and found his way to being adopted by the original Lex Luthor. They wouldn't have to go with this method, but it's clear that the pod's inhabitant was one of the few definite ideas for the Man Of Steel sequel at the time and thus makes sense to tie into one of Supes' biggest foes.
