Batman V Superman: Is Lex Luthor Secretly Kryptonian?

1. Conclusion

The whole idea of making Lex Luthor a Kryptonian is, on the face of it, completely bonkers. It messes with a comic status quo that has stood for over seventy-five years in a seismic way and sets an entirely unexpected tone for the DC Extended Universe. But the moment you look beyond it, taking into account the long journey Superman has taken on film to get here, then it suddenly looks a lot more likely. Warner Bros. have wanted to explicitly do it in the past and we know they aren't afraid of bringing up old ideas, while there's actually a simple narrative mechanic to bring this clearly different take of the character to life. At the very least there's something up with Lex Luthor - be it a hidden past (even if he isn't Kryptonian, that interview certainly hints he offed his father) or some diabolical meddling in the titular fight - and this would definitely be a big shocker. I'm not saying resolutely that Lex Luthor will be Kryptonian in the DC Extended Universe. I'm just saying don't be too surprised if it does happen - all the clues are there. So what do you think? Is Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor a Kryptonian? Or is he really just a hip, young modern businessman? Share your thoughts down in the comments.
