The pair trade blows: Clark Kent hits a nerve by asking about Gotham's vigilante problem, and Bruce responds with a take down of the over-zealous Metropolis press and says he's had enough experience dealing with the aftermath of maniacs dressed as clowns. These are issues that couldn't be more in vogue at the minute (well aside from the Joker bit), even if they're being framed by a comic book movie. Anyway, you get the sense that both men hate each other: something like the clash of alpha egos, perhaps.
