Batman Vs. Superman Movie: 10 Potential Reasons They Could Fight

10. Superman Is Too Destructive

As several fans have noted, the ending of Man Of Steel leaves a Metropolis that is mostly destroyed due to the battle between the General Zod and Superman. On top of that, Superman is outright resisting government inquiry into his life and states that he doesn't mind acting on his own set of morals. This was all in the first WEEK of his appearance to the world at large. So that means that the average Joe on the street thinks of Superman as a barely containable force of nature. And nobody dislikes lack of control more than Bruce Wayne. Because Batman's entire life has been shaped by rigid discipline, one could imagine he wouldn't look too fondly on a regular guy who can destroy skyscrapers without trying. In the comic series "Batman/Superman: Supergirl", Batman is immediately wary of Supergirl upon arrival due to her capability for destruction. While he trusts the adult Clark, he realizes that a young girl with the same amount of power can do as much harm as good. Arguably, Clark in Man Of Steel is not much more mature in his abilities than Supergirl was and poses just as much of a threat to the world. If Batman thought the risk of Superman outweighed his heroism, he might not hesitate to put him down.
