Batman Vs Superman: 20 Big Questions That Still Need Answers

5. How Will The Government Regard Superman?

As one of the final scenes in Man Of Steel suggests, Superman doesn't want the government constantly in his business. If he's going to protect this world and this country it's going to have to be on his terms. David Goyer famously penned the Action Comics #900 segment in which Superman renounces his citizenship, and though it caused uproar, it is clear why the statement was made. Knowing Goyer's sentiments on Superman's actions rippling throughout the rest of the world means the Government could play an important role. In Man Of Steel Harry Lennix's General Swanwick lead the team working with Superman in order to help stop the Kryptonians from destroying the planet. But even Lennix isn't a confirmed part of the cast for the sequel so the jury is still out, but it's an important question to be considered. If Superman is a global phenomenon then the government is going to be interested in him as well. More importantly is how will Superman deal with - not just the U.S. - but any government interest. Will he be seen as a friend or a foe? And how will Lex Luthor and Bruce Wayne play into both the governments involvement and the public's perception of Superman?
