BATMAN: YEAR ONE Animated Trailer Re-Tells The Dark Knight's Origin!

DC's animated division's full-length adaptation of the seminal 80's story by Frank Miller, coming October to Blu-ray & DVD but will premiere at Comic Con this month.

Around ten years ago, long before Christopher Nolan got the idea to reboot the Batman franchise with an origins story, indie filmmaker Darren Aronofsky pitched an adaptation of Frank Miller's groundbreaking and seminal Dark Knight story Batman: Year One to Warner Bros. The script from Miller/Aronofsky is readily available online and having read it, was a pretty out there adaptation, a lot more violent, gritty, dark and less mainstream than the eventual Nolan franchise but it was a significant moment in the history of the character on film as it paved the way in the mindset of the studio that the character could be rebooted after the disastrous Joel Schmuacher run. Ten years later and the Batman franchise is the hottest ticket in town. With The Dark Knight Rises currently deep into production, the character is once again at the top of pop culture. So of course it's apt that the DC animated division has got the idea to adapt Batman: Year One as a full-length animated feature film and thanks to MTV, we can have a peak at the trailer today; Get More: Movie Trailers, Movies Blog Batman: Year One is due to hit Blu-ray, DVD and OnDemand on October 18 but those lucky enough to be attending San Diego Comic Con on Friday, July 22 at 8:00pm in Ballroom 20 will be fortunate enough to witness the first showing of the film, followed by a panel discussion with the cast and crew. Sadly there's no Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman this time the duties fall to Benjamin McKenzie, but there's cool supporting voices provided by the in-demand Bryan Cranston as Jim Gordon, Eliza Dushku as Catwoman (she would have made a great Catwoman by the way) and Katee Sackhoff as Sarah Essen. The film was directed by Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu from a script by Tab Murphy.
