Before Paranormal Activity 4: 10 Movies That Paved the Way

The making of Amanda Gusack's found footage horror film is kind of one that's just a victim of unfair circumstances. Her found footage horror film is immensely similar to "Paranormal Activity," and even was made a few years before Oren Peli's. I remember reviewing Ms. Gusack's film and being blown away by it, but with Oren Peli's own film series hitting theaters, I wonder what the fate of Ms. Gusack's own wonderful horror film will be. The circumstances remind me of that "Seinfeld" quote from George Costanza: "It's like I'm Neil Armstrong. I turn around for a sip of Tang, and you jump out first!" It proves that good ideas are always up in the air and there's a consistent rush to get yours out first before someone else does. No way am I insinuating Oren Peli plagiarized, I'm merely explaining that if you love "Paranormal Activity," seek out Amanda Gusack's found footage film. Set on a young man who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, he decides to chronicle his last days by setting up cameras around his house to show him living out his last days. What he finds is that his illness has attracted something very evil and unforgiving, and he must now figure out how to save himself and his wife before it consumes him whole. I highly suggest it as it's a wonderfully made film and so similar in tone and direction from Oren Peli's film.
