Behind the Scenes: Pixar's DAY & NIGHT short

My favourite cinema-going moment every year is witnessing the latest Pixar animated short for the first time. Not only do they tell more story and with more character development in their few minutes of running time than most feature length Hollywood features, I also know they are just the prelude to a journey of wonder and imagination that only these guys can offer. Attached to prints of Toy Story 3 will be Day & Night (no, not the over-the-top action movie starring Tom Cruise), the latest Pixar short that ingeniously blends 2-D and 3-D animation in a tale of opposites, and new perspectives. It might actually be the best 3-D idea I've seen outside of Avatar. Clip, followed by the official synopsis; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFEE-Jgr7sw
When Day, a sunny fellow, encounters Night, a stranger of distinctly darker moods, sparks fly! Day and Night are frightened and suspicious of each other at first, and quickly get off on the wrong foot. But as they discover each other€™s unique qualities €” and come to realize that each of them offers a different window onto the same world €” the friendship helps both to gain a new perspective.
Day & Night is attached to prints of Toy Story 3, which opens in the U.S. on June 18th and in U.K. cinema's on July 23rd.
