4. Matt Murdock/Daredevil - Daredevil
Taking on Daredevil probably seemed like a genius move to Ben Affleck in the wake of X-Men, but it instead became a career mistake that so offended comic book fans his subsequent successes were rendered moot when he was cast as Batman. He swaggers through the movie, overconfident as Matt Murdock and offensively cliche as his alter ego. To Affleck's credit, the entire movie is leaden, as if it was cut by an actual blind man, and it just doesn't work in conveying any sense of character. His Daredevil is a derivative of Batman (and not the comic character, but the Val Kilmer version) and this choice is what really hampers the film. But it's not even got a stellar performance to ground it. I mean, just look at that face. Oh, and while the director's cut is technically a better movie (if not by as much as some people claim), the central performance is still as drab.
