Ben Stiller Auctions Off Walk On Role In NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

The winner will get the chance to be in a scene for the new comedy that also sees Stiller reunited with his Dodgeball counterpart Vince Vaughn.

There€™s more than one way to land a film role in Hollywood and Ben Stiller has popped another one on the list. The Tropic Thunder star is planning to auction off a walk-on role for one lucky bidder to appear in his upcoming film Neighborhood Watch. The winner will get the chance to be in a scene for the new comedy that also sees Stiller reunited with his Dodgeball counterpart Vince Vaughn. The CharityBuzz auction, which also currently has an auction to meet Mark Wahlberg, sets its sights on raking in at least $20,000 by closing time on 22 November. The auction also plans to raise money for Stiller€™s own charity, The Ben Stiller Foundation, which aims to provide education for underprivileged children. Originally scripted by Mr. Popper€™s Penguins writer Jared Stern, the high concept sci-fi comedy revolves around a suburban €œneighborhood watch€ group that actually acts as a ruse for some free male-bonding time for dads away from their families and stars comedy giants Stiller, Vaughn and Jonah Hill. The sci-fi comes in when the group stumbles across a plot to end the world and it€™s a new take on the material from the Superbad and Green Hornet scribes Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg that has everyone buzzing after the script was languishing in development hell (David Dobkin and Shawn Levy both came close to making the movie with Will Ferrell). Billy Crudrup (as "a creepy and weird neighbor"), Will Forte (as a Sheriff), Nicholas Braun and Rosemarie DeWitt support along with The IT Crowd€™s Richard Ayoade. Akiva Schaffer, the Saturday Night Live writer who directed the Andy Samberg farce Hot Rod will helm, taking over from previous director€™s chair warmer Pete Segal (Get Smart). The cast for Neighbourhood Watch is brilliant and the story sounds ridiculous enough. We're looking forward to this one that is due to open July 27th, 2012.
