BENIGHTED has new writer

Kit Whitfield's book where 90% of the population are werewolves is a potential directing vehicle for which fantasy director?

Patrick Smith Kelly (Don't Say a Word, A Perfect Murder) has been brought on board to adapt Kit Whitfield's supernatural novel Benighted for the big screen as a potential directing vehicle for The Chronicles of Narnia helmer Andrew Adamson. The movie which has been in production at Warner Brothers since early 2006 looks to be finally making some ground...
"Benighted" is set in an alternate reality in which 90% of the population are werewolves and the minority human population is responsible for keeping the peace during the full moon. The book follows the story of Lola, a member of the police force investigating a series of suspicious, unsolved murders.
Pretty cool movie to hire Smith who's experience of writing the two Michael Douglas thrillers should help ground this story in an eerie setting of reality which should make for a great movie. The only trouble is I didn't care much for Dont Say a Word or A Perfect Murder but still, I think hiring a crime/thriller writer was the way to go on this one. And again, Adamson is an interesting choice. After helming two Shrek movies and two Narnia flicks as the first four movies in your career, where does your career go from there?
