13. Heart Eyes
Valentine's Day-themed slasher flick Heart Eyes begins with a pre-title kill that so perfectly encapsulates the film's grisly-yet-hilarious tone.
A man, Patrick (Alex Walker), is shown proposing to his partner Adeline (Lauren O'Hara) on V-Day, while being observed by their photographer Nico (Latham Gaines) from afar.
But after a beat, Nico is stabbed through his camera lens with a massive machete by the Heart Eyes killer, who then begins stalking the couple.
Patrick soon enough gets an arrow through his head, Cupid-style, all while Adeline flees to a nearby winery, hiding inside the apparent safe confines of a wine presser.
Yeah, you can probably see where this is going.
Heart Eyes then promptly activates the wine presser, leaving Adeline helpless as she's turned into pulp, her remains then left pouring into the attached wine buckets.
This scene quickly confirms the film's satirical engagement with Valentine's Day, while promising viewers that some inventively gnarly deaths are also in store.
