20 Greatest Horror Movie Endings of the 2020s (So Far)
The decade's horror movie endings that stuck with us all.
Horror is arguably in a better place right now than it's ever been, the genre serving up dozens and dozens of quality offerings every single year - more than all but the most die-hard of aficionados can keep up with, honestly.
Horror is not only dominating the box office but has been crashing the awards circus as of late, but of course, no great horror movie can be complete without an ending that closes things out on a high.
And that's absolutely the case with these 20 horror movie endings, each of which delivered a climax that paid off everything leading up to that point.
A brilliant ending can be many things, of course - it can be a gory, maximalist showdown, a delirious twist ending, an emotionally gratifying grace note to the story, or something totally unexpected.
However they did it, these 20 horror movie endings from the 2020s aren't just among the decade's best, many of them are arguably among the very best the genre has ever served up.
And with the way the genre is faring right now, we can expect the 2020s to just keep serving up banger endings...
20. Evil Dead Rise
What would any Evil Dead movie be without an absolute face-melting belter of a climax? And Evil Dead Rise certainly delivered that in spades.
Beth (Lily Sullivan) and her niece Kassie (Nell Fisher) take refuge from the Deadites in the parking garage of their apartment complex, all while being pursued by an entity known as the Marauder - a grotesque, many-limbed fusion of Beth and Kassie's dead family members.
But Beth fights back, using a chainsaw to force the Marauder into a wood chipper, and when the severed head of Beth's sister Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) taunts her, Beth kicks it straight into the chipper.
The pair then escape the building, before an epilogue shows Jessica (Anna-Maree Thomas) - the possessed character introduced in the film's opening scene - being attacked by an unseen force in the very same parking lot.
Where the Evil Dead franchise is concerned, you just can't go wrong with a chainsaw, deformed bodies, and buckets of blood.
