3. Joker's Off-Screen Death

Birds of Prey Harley Quinn
Warner Bros. Pictures

Jared Leto's Joker wasn't exactly the shining light of the DCEU, and his relationship with Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad was highly problematic, but Birds of Prey's decision to kill him off in an off-screen-but-not-really-off-screen method seems a little odd.

Granted, crashing a truck with Mr. J inside of it into Ace Chemicals certainly benefits Harley's arc - so from a storyline standpoint, it works. That said, it does feel like a lazy attempt to deal with the negative response to the DCEU's unique Joker rather than actually fixing the problem.

But hey, onwards and upwards to the next phase of the DCEU, right?
