Black Adam Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs

3. The Frequently Terrible Dialogue

Black Adam Hawkman
Warner Bros.

For the love of God, the dialogue in this film is so often absolutely abhorrent. Even if you're able to cope with the reams and reams of exposition throughout, the moment-to-moment chit-chat has all the naturalism of a script generated by an AI algorithm.

From the heavy-handed speeches about the casualties of imperialism to the half-baked "comic relief" dialogue - again, clearly trying to out-MCU the MCU - it's shocking that such a lousy, low-effort script actually got the greenlight.

Then again, this being the DCEU and Warner Bros., is it really?

At least the movie boasts enough action to ensure it's not the talkiest thing you've ever seen, but good lord, this script needed at least another couple of drafts before it was fit to go before cameras.
