Ryan Coogler has already spoken about his desire not to include Man-Ape explicitly in Black Panther because of the problematic connotations of his name, but M'Baku - the head of the rogue Jabari tribe does appear. And there's still a big reference back to his comic book alter-ego in the gorilla mask he wears for his official challenge to T'Challa and the fur on his tribe's outfits.

Later, when Killmonger and W'Kabi are preparing to ship Wakandan tech out to the wider world, one of the individual sonic blasters is clearly modelled on Man-Ape's spear from the comics.
