Black Panther Reviews: 12 Early Reactions You Need To See

6. It Is Important And Political

As Marvel recognised with their decision to release Black Panther in February for Black History Month, Coogler's stand-alone is a hugely important film.

Representation is a massive issue - particularly in comic book movies (where it's been a problem in the past) - and the film's focus on identity politics sounds like it sets it apart.

And there's no way that a political comic book movie is a problem (after all, the MCU has already explored the surveillance state, civil rights and government control)...

But it should all come back to representation, which is far more important. This will be a stand-out moment for black film-making and identity and it's been a long time coming...

And while not everyone agreed on the action, there is at least the caveat that the film rises above any limitations (though nobody seems to be picking any out other than David Ehrlich)...
