6. The Tone

After Thor: Ragnarok's trailer was released, Marvel were accused of simply doubling down on the Guardians Of The Galaxy tone because they'd established what already worked. Though the trailer was exceptional, it was taken as further ammunition for cynics to pick the MCU apart as a content factory that churns out films to a very specific model.

This Black Panther trailer should kill any of those accusations dead immediately: it not only has an immediately obvious unique identity, but it also has the swagger and the visual flair of a director being invited to put his own stamp on the material. There are stunning cinematic moments, stylistic flourishes and a general confidence in this trailer that defies the idea that Marvel hire directors to work to an already established brief.

As if you'd hire Ryan Coogler to cut off his hands creatively!

Go and watch Ragnarok's first teaser and this Black Panther one and try and say they look even remotely similar. So much for a creative graveyard!
