Black Widow: Everything You Need To Know About Taskmaster

7. He Suffers From Amnesia

Black Widow Taskmaster

Before he was a mercenary and supervillain, Tony Masters was an agent of SHIELD. In fact, he personally worked on missions with Nick Fury. During a mission, he found a chemical that the Nazis intended to use to create super-soldiers. When Masters learned that exposure to this chemical causes the person’s short-term memory to advance exponentially, he injected himself with it and developed superhuman reflexes.

Although this serum was supposed to make Masters a superhuman that could rival Captain America, there was a side effect. Ever since he injected himself with the serum, his long-term memory becomes damaged every time he uses his photographic reflexes. He forgets names, people, his childhood, friends, and his family. Sometimes, he forgets who he is, what he is doing, or why he is doing it.

Over time, he even forgot his wife, Mercedes. When his wife met Masters and reminded him of his past life, he suddenly remembered who he used to be. However, when he used his photographic reflexes, it reset his mind, causing him to forget his past life all over again. When Mercedes saw this, she realised the man who she loved and married was gone forever. All that's left is Taskmaster.
