Blade Runner Vs. Blade Runner 2049: Which One Is Better?

9. Supporting Cast

Blade Runner Robin Wright Rutger Hauer

The original movie's supporting cast speaks for itself: Sean Young and Rutger Hauer are especially impressive and iconic, but Edward James Olmos, M. Emmet Walsh, Joe Turkel, Daryl Hannah, William Sanderson, Brion James and James Hong all contribute terrific work to help create truly memorable characters.

2049 is no slouch in this department either, with Harrison Ford taking a meaty supporting role in act three, while the cast is also filled out by the fantastic Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Mackenzie Davis, Jared Leto, not to mention smaller appearances from the likes of Lennie James, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian and Wood Harris.

Winner: Both films are fantastic in this regard, but 2049 clinches it by leaning into the ensemble factor a little more, and absolutely making the most of its fantastic roster of performers.
