Blood Father Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

2. It's Only 88 Minutes Long

It may sound like a bit of a back-handed compliment, but despite that brief second-act lull, this is a movie that doesn't screw around and largely respects the audience's time.

At just 88 minutes in length (or around 80 without credits), it gets in, sets up its premise quickly, does its job and then gets out. Though there's a time and a place for a deeply meditative 150-minute movie, a steroids-infused revenge movie really isn't it, and Jean-François Richet does a great job balancing the character beats with the intense action.

It'll fly right by you and you'll wonder where the time went. If only more movies could be so breathless.
