Bloodshot Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

3. The Atrocious "Comic Relief"

Bloodshot's script also makes the fatal mistake of trying to be too funny for its own good, as if to offset the seriousness of Vin Diesel's performance.

Though there are some not-totally-awful one-liners sprinkled throughout the film, the majority of the comedy is given to Lamorne Morris, who plays Brit goofball computer whiz Wilfred Wigans.

Unfortunately almost every line that comes out of his mouth is embarrassingly laughless, and marks a clear attempt to make the film a broader, quip-happy blockbuster rather than the darker, grittier sci-fi action film fans actually wanted to see.

If you're not cringing, you're not paying attention.
