Bob Hoskins & more join Neil Marshall's Doomsday

hoskins_bob.jpgNeil Marshall's post-apocalyptic movie Doomsday has cast veteran Bob Hoskins with production set to start in two weeks time. Plot info for those who missed it the first time... After a deadley plague known as €œThe Reaper Virus€ has killed thousands in Great Britain, the Government evacuates as many survivors as it can out of the infected area, and then builds a wall, preventing the remainder from escaping. Thirty years later, with the wall still up and the victims all but forgotten, the virus breaks out again and a elite team of operatives are sent to investiage a cure.Rhona Mitra we already know will play Eden, the leader of the special team of operatives. Hoskins role will be that of a policeman who suggests her as the perfect candidate for the job and watches her progress closely. Casting doesn't stop there... Alexander Siddig (Dr. Bashir from Deep Space Nine) and Adrian Lester (Hustle) have also signed up along with several actors from Marshall's own filmography... Sean Pertwee, Darren Morfitt, Emma Cleasby and Chris Robson of Dog Soldiers. MyAnna Buring and Nora-Jane Noone of The Descent. Leslie Simpson and Craig Conway who were in both movies! That's a massive 8 actors returning from Marshall's back catalogue and the guy's only made two movies. I love the plot and the idea of the movie but I've yet to been THAT impressed by Neil Marshall. Yes, I think he has made some very fun and entertaining popcorn flicks but the one thing he has never been able to do is get me emotionally involved with any of his characters. I know critics and fans a like absolutely adore him but I find his writing a little weak when it comes to character development. Still I'm looking forward to this. With Bob Hoskins, Sean Pertwee, the under-rated Alexander Siddig and the pretty Rhona Mitra.... how can you not be? source - coming soon
