As with everything else in Craig's Bond films, the Bond girls have enjoyed a significant overhaul. In Casino Royale, Caterina Murino's Solange is tortured and murdered, and Eva Green's Vesper Lynd drowns herself at the end of the film, kick-starting Bond's quest for revenge against Quantum. Quantum of Solace saw Olga Kurylenko's Camille survive the day, though Gemma Arterton's Strawberry Fields wasn't quite so lucky, drowned in oil in a manner clearly referencing Goldfinger. Skyfall, then, introduced us to Severine, who before she could be much of an impact upon the plot (apart from introducing Bond to Silva) was promptly shot in the head by Silva. Sure, one can argue that M is the true Bond girl in Skyfall, but she dies too, so that's a lot of dead Bond girls over the course of just three movies. Hopefully they'll cut back on the slaughter of such beautiful women in Bond 24, and more to the point, ensure that if they die, it's actually for something.
