Borat Subsequent Moviefilm Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs
Downs...
3. It's A Little Too Long
Easily the biggest issue with Borat 2 - and it honestly isn't a huge one regardless - is that it outstays its welcome by a small measure.
The original film succeeded in part because, at just 84 minutes in length, it moved so fast and never stuck around in one place for too long.
Though this sequel is only 12 minutes longer, there are undeniable moments where it feels like Cohen and director Jason Woliner linger on a so-so gag for too long, especially in the middle of the movie.
While it hits hard whenever it hits, there are a number of skits which drag somewhat, and overall it just lacks the lightning-fast pace and consistency of its predecessor.
Importantly, though, it begins strong and ends even stronger.
