5. Rocket Raccoon - Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014)

It's testament to Cooper's vocal performance in Guardians Of The Galaxy that it's entirely possible to forget that it's him under all that fur. In stark contrast to Vin Diesel's necessarily showy Groot, Cooper defied accusations that he was being under-cast as the mercenary critter by giving a layered, nuanced performance that was entirely uncartoonish. He was brash when challenged - a picture of bravado and inflated ego that hid a more vulnerable, emotional interior - and when the role required something more broken and raw, Cooper brought that game strongly too. It might not be a performance that would ever get him any awards recognition, but he was a big reason for the success of Guardians, and the balance he brought to the team was surprisingly charitable.
