Brett Ratner wants to do a GUITAR HERO movie

Pitches the idea for a "dreams come true" movie!

First it was Ridley Scott's Monopoly, then it was Aaron Sorkin's Facebook movie and now Brett Ratner is jumping on the band wagon of obscure "time wasting" property to be adaptated for a movie. In an interview with MTV€™s Jocelyn Vena, Ratner spoke of his desire to make a movie based off the Guitar Hero video game!

I love €˜Guitar Hero€™ and I think it€™s a part of pop culture. I would love to do a €˜Guitar Hero€™ movie, if Activision would ever let me. I€™m trying to convince them, but why would you have a movie screw up such a huge franchise? Not that I would make a bad movie. So that would be cool, to do a €˜Guitar Hero€™ movie€It could be about a kid from a small town who dreams of being a rock star and he wins the €˜Guitar Hero€™ competition. One of these dreams- kind of concepts.

Sounds dreadful.

And isn't there something so obvious about his plot statement which would instantly put Activision off the property? Why would that anyone want to watch a "small dreams come true" tale of a guy playing Guitar Hero when it would actually work better as a story of a young kid who realises his dreams with a real guitar!

For example, this climax....

Can't beat something like for an ending, from School of Rock...

Despite over 21 million copies of Guitar Hero being sold worldwide and it's continuing success for what many believed was a dumb idea for a video game, this is one property which will never make it on film.
