Brotherhood Review: 6 Ups & 5 Downs

5. There's A Hilarious Michael Bay Joke

Brotherhood Noel Clarke
Lionsgate

A Noel Clarke movie is probably the last place you'd expect to hear a joke at the expense of Michael Bay, but there you have it. When Sam is accosted in a kebab shop and helped out by the establishment's owner who he's known for decades, the two discuss the merits (or rather, demerits) of Michael Bay, complaining that he took Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from their childhoods and ruined them.

It's a random moment which does admittedly feel somewhat shoehorned in retrospect, but it still elicits a solid, stunned laugh all the same. If nothing else, it's a unique, unexpected moment that provides some much-needed levity.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
