Bruce Campbell planning a horror icons version of THE EXPENDABLES!

While I was afraid The Expendables might start a trend of mashing-up genre stars which may eventually tire fans in the long run, I'm pretty excited to know that cult film legend Bruce Campbell is, in his words, a mere year away from putting together an ensemble horror extravaganza of his own! The Evil Dead star recently spoke to the Los Angeles Times about his desire (hopefully) to pack all the living horror greats into one film...and its sequels of course.
€œYeah, The Expendables, or more like the It€™s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World of horror. I want to get so many horror movie stars that people can€™t possibly not see the movie. I want to give them other stuff to do. I want to have Kane Hodder be very particular about what he eats. I want Robert Englund to be a tough guy, like he knows tae kwon do or something. I want to find out the hidden sides of all these people. Some will play themselves, some will play alternate characters as well. I may approach Kane Hodder to play Frankenstein. He could be Kane Hodder himself fighting himself as Frankenstein. It could be crazy.
My fear before was that studios would follow Sly Stallone's footsteps and start packing genre stars into new films, only they'd fail to really understand the concept and hence, fail to make a decent film altogether. Imagine boy-band heroes of the past making a movie together, or stars of hit TV series coming together to make a single film. The latter might sound interesting, but really, it's potential to turn into a lackluster failure is outstanding. Bruce Campbell's idea, however, sounds like loads of fun and it's a movie that's begging to be made already. Although I'd love to see horror legends in character mash it up, out-of-character silliness doesn't sound too bad either. If Sarah Michelle Gellar, Robert Englund, Christopher Lee, and Jamie Lee Curtis exchanging witty dialogue in a single scene doesn't sound incredibly awesome, I'm not sure what does.
