Bruce Willis finds a SURROGATE

Oliver Stone got cancelled because of the strike, leaving Bruce Willis out of work and without a job between now and that other damned strike in June. Though it hasn't taken him long to find a surrogate movie. Quite literally actually. Variety say Willis will star in THE SURROGATES. The Walt Disney sci-fi film comes from the writing and directing team that brought us TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES (yes that means Jonathan Mostow is directing, oh dear!) and is based on a 2005 comic series produced by Top Shelf Comix...

Story is set in the near future, where humans live in isolation and interact vicariously through surrogate robots who are better-looking versions of themselves. Willis plays a cop who, through his surrogate, investigates the murders of others€™ surrogates. The cop is forced to venture from his own home for the first time in years and unravels a conspiracy.
Sounds like some fun sci-fi material, almost in a Phillip K. Dick sort of way. I'm hearing this comic is excellent and one of the best in the sci-fi genre the medium has seen for years. Bruce hasn't played around in this ballpark since THE FIFTH ELEMENT and it's a welcome return in my eyes after a couple of duds recently with PERFECT STRANGER and DIE HARD 4. All the ingredients are there, let's just hope director Jonathan Mostow has spent the last four years since TERMINATOR 3 obsessively improving his craft.
