Bud Elkins leaps into the next life
Stuntman who made a career of doubling for the legendary Steve McQueen and was the guy who made that famous leap in The Great Escape has passed away, aged 77.
Bullit and did uncredited work on McQueen's The Towering Inferno, The Cincinnati Kid and even worked on the Bond movie Diamonds are Forever will forever be remembered for one famous jump in The Great Escape, where Steve McQueen is desperately trying to get away from the Nazi's on his motorcycle.
