The first I saw of the original
Cabin Fever was a trailer that ran before a screening of
Freddy vs. Jason way back in the summer of 2003. I thought the trailer was awesome, and as I sat watching a film that was failing to fulfill a "life long dream" of seeing two horror icons slug it out, I was secretly wishing I was watching Cabin Fever. When I finally got round to seeing it, I thought it was pretty good. I loved that it was a throwback to the 70's and early 80's cabin horror movies such as
Friday the 13th,
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and
The Evil Dead but at the same time adding this new twist of a deadly virus. Listening to the audio commentary track, I was really taken back by
Eli Roth who seemed to be a film geek like us, loving the horror genre he grew up with. Since then, he has made
Hostel and my initial curiosity in his work has diminished somewhat, but I'm still looking forward to seeing what he can come up with in his adaptation of Stephen King's
Cell. Why am I telling you all this? Well
Cinema Blend have got the scoop that the long gestured sequel to Cabin Fever has finally got a title....
Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever. If there was ever a straight-to-dvd title then that was it! Eli Roth's not returning for the sequel, instead
The Roost director (yeah I've never heard of it either)
Ti West is helming this time. Suffice to say, I have little faith in this cash-in sequel. source -
