There are few horror movie tropes more famous than that of the "final girl," the leading lady who makes it to the end of the movie and is forced to confront the killer themselves.
Though the term was first coined in 1992, as a concept it's existed for more than 50 years, of presenting a courageous, gutsy female lead who the audience can root for against the antagonist.
While many horror movie characters are simply meat puppets waiting to be put down by the killer, the final girl typically represents virtue and resourcefulness, using their smarts to make it to the finish line in one piece. That's not to say that all final girls end up defeating the villain, of course.
But how well do you remember some of the most iconic and important final girls from the last five decades of horror? Even the most enthusiastic genre aficionados will struggle to get 100% on this quiz.
Yet no matter how you do, the answers are at the end as ever. Good luck!
