Every Cancelled John Carpenter Film We NEVER Got To See

13. Shadow Company

Shadow Company
Shane Black & Fred Dekker

Shadow Company would've centred around a group of US Special Forces soldiers, who died in the Vietnam War. When the squad are reborn as unstoppable zombies years later, they raid an armoury base and invade the town they were buried in. After they destroy everything in their path, a Vietnam veteran tied to their past (played by Kurt Russell) is tasked with taking the flesh-eaters down.

Hoping to bring the war story to life, Carpenter teamed up with several talented filmmakers, including Walter Hill (48 Hours), Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad), and Shane Black (Lethal Weapon). Black wrote the script, describing it as a cross between "Platoon and The Exorcist", which sounds right up Carpenter's alley.

Unfortunately, Shadow Company fell into disarray during pre-production, resulting in the project getting canned.
