5. It's The Coens' First Film In Three Years
The Brothers are known for their industrious work ethic as filmmakers, at some stages releasing a movie a year without a decline in quality at all. Take their 2007-2010 run of films (No Country, Burn After Reading, A Serious Man and True Grit); most directors would kill to have that many great films in their entire career, but the Coen Brothers did it within the space of three years. Still, the last 3 years have seen a period of inactivity for the pair, aside from the screenplay they wrote for the execrable Colin Firth film Gambit, so awful that it appears to have had its state-side release quietly dumped. One can only hope that the Gambit script was a one-off while they were busy prepping Llewyn Davis. This downtime period certainly leaves our expectations running high...
