CAPE FEAR writer working on Freddy's NEW NIGHTMARE

New Line Cinema (now a Warner Bros. division) and Platinum Dunes have taken the next big step in getting the third of the big slasher movies of the 70's and 80's remade into theatres. They have found a writer for the Nightmare on Elm Street redo, veteran Wesley Strick who adapted Cape Fear for Martin Scorsese but has also wrote much studio crap including The Saint, The Glass House and Doom.

In one of the most ambiguous statements I have ever read in The Hollywood Reporter, they say the movie "will have a dark tone". Wow, that really does tell us a lot doesn't it? Without Robert Englund, who cares about this project?
