Captain America: Civil War - 10 Best Moments
7. Peggy Carter's Funeral
This scene had been spoiled long ahead of time by sneaky set snaps, but the notion of a 95-year-old Peggy Carter passing away in her sleep isn't exactly a shocker now, is it?
As Cap and the rest of The Avengers are arguing about the Accords, Cap receives a text from Sharon Carter informing him of her death, at which point he heads to London for the funeral.
What could've been an utterly superfluous scene destined for the cutting room floor actually ends up being unexpectedly emotional and absolutely essential. Steve serves as a pallbearer and gets to share a nice conversation with Sharon about Peggy, a testament to how, so many movies later, the tragic doomed potential romance of Steve and Peggy is still the most affecting in the entire MCU.
It again reminds us of how far Cap has come, and Sharon's eulogy of her aunt clearly reinforces Cap's virtue that he shouldn't compromise if he, in fact, cannot.
