Captain America Civil War: 10 Implications For Infinity War
2. Cap's Death Is Still Coming
Many were utterly convinced that Captain America would be killed off at the end of Civil War as per the comics, but he made it to the finish line in one piece. Still, Marvel are known for subverting expectations all while retaining the core soul of the source material, and so that probably means one thing: Cap is still going to die.
Consider that Infinity War Part 1 is the final film in Chris Evans' six-film MCU contract and it makes perfect sense for Cap's death to come at the hands of Thanos at the end of the movie. It would bring grand emotional weight to the film, leave it on an awesome cliffhanger and immediately solidify Thanos as one hell of a force to be reckoned with. Oh, and it would create an organic, believable reason to bring the two Avengers teams together, allowing for Tony to reflect on his former friend and, yes, avenge him.
Part 2 would pretty much write itself with this set-up, and it just makes too much dramatic sense to only delay his death rather than cancel it entirely.
