Captain America: Civil War - 10 Most Hyped Moments

4. The Comic Refreshers

Despite the fact that it's obviously - and necessarily - one of Marvel's more serious entries, and massively removed from Age Of Ultron, this is still a popcorn movie, as so many of the reviews are careful to point out, and there is breathing space between the moments of gravitas thanks largely to the comedic interruptions of Falcon and Ant-Man.

As Total FIlm's review acknlwedges: "Anthony Mackie€™s Sam Wilson can be relied upon for laugh-out-loud one-liners whenever he€™s on screen, the Vision€™s stylish new wardrobe is comedy gold and Paul Rudd€™s Scott Lang is huge fun in a relatively brief appearance €“ utterly enamoured by Steve Rogers and overjoyed just to have been invited along."

Again, balance is key, as BMD puts it:

"Heroes pair off in ways that make sense, and the Russos are careful to make sure that some of the funnier, lighter characters - those will lower emotional stakes in the story - interact in just the right ways with the characters whose stakes are heavy."

That makes it sound even more like the comedic characters are there for levity and palate cleansing, and that's precisely the way it should be.
